Local Area

Newborough is a traditional welsh village with most of the residents being local, as such it does not have a typical holiday feel and apart from weekends at peak season and bank holidays when there are lots of visitors to Newborough forest travelling through the village it is generally very quiet and peaceful.

The highlight of the cottage has to be the amazing views from the back garden, which has great views of Snowdonia and the Welsh mountains.

Although there are limited options for off road dog walking in the village a 5 minute drive takes you to Newborough forest and beach where there are lots of walking opportunities.

You can read all about Newborough Forest by downloading this PDF Map with walking information

There is a village shop selling essentials and general groceries, newspapers.

The White Lion Pub is very dog friendly and has a small but lovely beer garden.

Red Squirrel Cafe/Take Away for paninis, sandwiches, all day breakfasts.

The Cod Mother Fish & Chip Shop, serving some of the best fish and chips on the island.

The Marram Grass Cafe is a fantastic foodie restaurant to visit and is about a 25 minute walk from the cottage, or a five minute drive.

There is also a small Children's Park just down the road from the cottage.

Mandy Nelson,

Spent a lovely week in Anglesey, our first ever visit. Thought the island was really nice, lots of lovely little coves and beaches. I can't wait to return in the summer. The cottage was just great...everything and more that you need, we will spread the word to our friends and family. The log burner was a real treat after long walks on the beach.

Debbie & Richard,

Lovely comfortable stay. Loved the garden and even got to sit outside with our coffee. Lots of beach walks with the dogs and nights spend by the fire. Can recommend the White Eagle at Rhoscolyn for a meal but advisable to book. Loved the farm shop Hootons will definatly be back again.

The Harpers,

Visit number two so far! Lovely weekend away from it all. Weather great views with snow on tops. Breakfast at Hootons ( Lovely) Henry has been on the beach, lovely and warm with the wood burner lit. Can't wait to come back again!

Tracey, Andrew and Henry,

Superb everything is to hand and to a very high standard, we love it, thank you. PS Dougal's Den pet shop is incredible too, our dog's favourite shop.

B & K,

Had a super time. Plenty rain, plenty rest, fed, ready to go back to real life. Enjoyed the beach ( many times) and the forest. Visited Menai and Beaumaris. But really only want to sit and enjoy the view here and to come again in better weather, but not grumbling. The fire makes up for the dark wet nights everything is perfect.

Bernard, Shirley & ben,

Well...what a fabulous cottage you have! Everything about it is spot in down to the very fine details for both us and the dogs Miley & Dylan. we went on lots of lovely walks including Aberffraw where we had a BBW in the dunes with gorgeous burgers from Hootons. We went to Camaes Bay, Rhoscolyn & Llandonna but the best walk was from the cottage through Newborough Forest to lovers's island. We would highly recommend trips to the Marram Grass and Dylans restaurant in Menai as the food is amazing. We look forward to coming back in the future for our next adventure!

Peter, Amber Dylan & Miley,
